The Psychological Impact of COVID-19: Addressing Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, & Work-Related Conditions
It’s becoming clear that the toll of the pandemic on pharmacists is not merely physical. The additional and continuous demands placed on the pharmacy workforce by the pandemic are contributing factors to pharmacist burnout. This, in addition to work-related conditions, illness and grief caused by the outbreak, together with social isolation, economic instability, and sudden changes in day-to-day life, has placed considerable strain on pharmacists’ wellbeing.
Health care providers, pharmacist included, historically suffer more from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) than the general population. Pharmacists bear witness to their patients’ suffering, and many lack complete control over their work conditions as well as their ability to maintain personal safety.
This Spring Pharmacy Night, our CEO will tackle burnout and work-related conditions. She will help you better understand your risk of burnout, compassion fatigue and work-related conditions. In addition, she will provide effective tools and resources to help you prevent burnout.
